About Catch-72 Golf

Catch-72 Golf (“Catch-72”) is owned and operated by Scott Wells, a Class A PGA professional and certified instructor. Based out of the Learning Center at CommonGround Golf Course ("CommonGround"), Catch-72 provides instruction on all facets of the game of golf, with the goal of helping each student regularly achieve or exceed his or her “personal” par. Catch-72 offers exceptional golf instruction by customizing lesson plans based on each student’s aptitude and goals (as opposed to teaching a standard, one-size-fits-all method), structuring student practice time, and implementing cutting edge technology.

Catch-72's Philosophy

It is our philosophy that lessons should be tailored to fit player abilities, physical attributes, and goals. We believe students have particular motivations for taking lessons, requiring an effective instructor to adapt accordingly. Further, we believe competent teachers must excel at communicating, since each student interprets information differently.

While Catch-72 understands swing changes and improvements continue to develop over time, our students have consistently progressed after their very first lessons. We feel this is attributable to maintaining a vested interest in our students' improvement, which allows us to connect with them on both personal and professional levels. At the outset, we seek to establish an easy-going rapport, and identify each student's strengths, weaknesses, and objectives. We strongly believe that a positive and collaborative environment stimulates expedited learning, and more easily produces measurable results.

Why Choose Catch-72?

In today's information age, golfers are overloaded with tips from television programs, the Internet, and golf publications that claim to improve technique. Unfortunately, the majority of this well-intentioned information may not apply to each golfer's specific game. In Catch-72's experience, consuming irrelevant information diverts players from their "real" issues. Add to this the differing philosophies on how to swing the club and complex equipment, and it is easy for one to become overwhelmed and/or confused.

Catch-72 is adept at cutting through the chaos. We will identify and prioritize your weaknesses, and create a personalized, straightforward plan for improvement. This will help you maximize the time and energy you devote toward improving your golf game.

Picture
Scott Wells graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Professional Golf Management. He is a member of the PGA of America (PGA), PGA Certified in Teaching & Coaching, and a U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach. Scott was honored to receive the U.S. Kids Golf "2017 Top 50 Kids Teachers Award." Scott has been fortunate to work and teach at some of the finest golf facilities in the country. In particular, Scott spent seven years at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey, host of the 2005 and 2016 PGA Championships. Since moving to Colorado, Scott spent three years as the First Assistant at Cherry Creek Country Club before accepting the Head Professional position at Beaver Creek Golf Club. Scott also has approximately 27 years of experience playing golf competitively.

Learning under preeminent, Top 100 instructors has undoubtedly helped shape Scott's teaching knowledge and philosophy. However, his teaching method is distinctive, and not merely a replication of any other instructor’s style. Consistent feedback from many of Scott's students has proven that his method of teaching is as effective, if not more so, than those taught to them by leading Golf Academies. Nevertheless, Scott continues to enhance his teaching style by staying abreast of the latest teaching drills, instructional aids, and trends. He then uses this information, which is gathered from attending seminars and workshops, adding and maintaining certifications, and reading industry publications, to create uniquely effective lesson plans.
